02

Select a tree.

Visit your local ForeverKind Memorial Forest and select a tree you would like as your final resting place. Available trees are identified by ribbons - Community trees by a yellow ribbon, Family trees a blue ribbon and Partner trees by a pink ribbon. Details about the tree differences are available within the Pricing section.
Each tree has an identification number on it, take note of this and let us know the number when you secure your tree. If, rather than visiting, you would would like us to select a tree for you we are more than happy to do so.

When you pass, your loved ones will have to complete many formalities in a short time. The ForeverKind memorial is not the most important issue and there is no hurry to get in touch. When the time is right we simply require an email with your ForeverKind Memorial number. We will then get in touch to confirm the details for the memorial marker.

We will deliver your memorial marker, a map to locate your memorial tree, and urn burial instructions to your loved ones within 14 days of notification of passing.

07

Gather your loved ones.

When it’s time, your loved ones will come together and visit your ForeverKind forest and locate your memorial tree.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Can I visit the forest?

Absolutely! ForeverKind forests are always open and accessible so that you can visit to spend time with your loved one, bury ashes, or plan and select your tree, at any time that suits you. You are welcome to visit as often as you like and to stay as long as you like.

What happens if my tree dies?

ForeverKind’s mission is to grow and sustain New Zealand native forests. When your memorial tree eventually dies, we’ll plant a new tree in its place so your legacy continues. New trees will be from the same species and be planted in the same spot as your original tree.

Are the trees in the forest accessible by foot?

Yes! We maintain paths for you and your loved ones to easily navigate our forests. All memorial trees are either directly on these paths or within a short walk. There will be other trees within ForeverKind forests that aren’t used for memorial purposes due to their access or density of forest surrounding them. If you have specific questions about accessibility, please email us at hello@foreverkind.co.nz so we can assist you.

Are there places to sit in the forests?

No, our intention is to regenerate and return the forests to their pure state. We have chosen not to include seats in order to have as minimal impact on the forests as possible. We recommend you take a picnic blanket or lightweight camping chair with you if you would like to stay a while.

Does ForeverKind own the land?

ForeverKind owns and maintains our forests. It's our goal to create meaningful memorials while conserving New Zealand native forests at the same time. By owning the forests we can ensure proper forestry practices, and provide safe access for families and visitors.

How do you make sure the forests will never be developed?

We hold all our forests within the ForeverKind Trust which places a number of environmental and conservation covenants on the land to ensure that they will remain as New Zealand native forests forever.

Where is ForeverKind going to open new memorial tree forests?

We are always looking to add new forests in new regions. Register your details on the Our Forests page and keep an eye on our social media channels for announcements.

Can I transfer my tree to one of your newer forests?

Yes, you can transfer your tree within the forest or to another forest for up to ten years after purchase as long as no ashes have been buried beneath your tree and your memorial marker has not been placed.

Does ForeverKind offer cremation?

ForeverKind does not provide cremation services, we manage the memorial forests only. You can find trusted partners by searching for local funeral homes or crematorium or emailing us at hello@foreverkind.co.nz

Does ForeverKind provide biodegradable urns?

No, we do not. Your local funeral homes or crematorium will likely offer these as they are widely available, otherwise we can assist by emailing us at hello@foreverkind.co.nz

Do I have to use a biodegradable urn?

Yes, it is important that the urn will breakdown and allow the ashes to mix with the soil. We are dedicated to regenerating New Zealand native forests by keeping foreign materials and chemicals out of the soil where possible.
